Azimut is a library management system built for university/college libraries, operated by DMS ACAD. This policy explains what information Azimut collects from students, lecturers, and library staff who use the app, and how that information is used.
Information we collect
Azimut accounts are created by your institution's library staff. The following information is stored:
- Account details: matricule/ID number, full name, email address, phone number, department, and role (student, lecturer, librarian, or admin).
- Profile photo: an optional avatar image, if you choose to upload one.
- Login credentials: your password, stored only as a salted cryptographic hash — never in plain text.
- Library activity: book loans, returns, renewals, reservations, and any fines associated with your account.
- Uploaded content: teaching resources, theses, or exam papers you upload, if your role permits this.
Azimut does not use advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not access your device's camera, contacts, location, storage, or photos. The Android app only requires internet access to communicate with the library server.
How we use this information
- To operate library circulation: issuing, returning, renewing, and reserving books.
- To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
- To send notifications about due dates, overdue items, fines, and reservation availability, by email (and SMS, where enabled by your institution).
- To generate circulation statistics and reports for library administrators.
Who can see your information
Your account and activity data is only visible to authorized library staff (Librarian and Admin roles) at your own institution. Azimut does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties or advertisers.
Data storage and security
Data is stored on secured servers and transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Passwords are never stored in plain text, and access to administrative functions is restricted by role.
Data retention and your rights
Your information is retained for as long as your account remains active with your institution, or as required by your institution's record-keeping policies. You may contact your library staff, or reach out directly using the details below, to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
Children's privacy
Azimut is intended for use by students and staff enrolled at a partner institution and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the app or applicable regulations. The effective date above will be updated whenever changes are made.
